The setting

Audi stage was a testbed for new digital services from Audi. A place to validate new business models in front of an enthusiastic user base. The architectural success criterion was set up front: any service that proved itself had to be portable into the myAudi app without rewriting it.

My role

Two years embedded with Audi Business Innovation, with a heavy focus on systems architecture across teams and across multiple apps, inside enterprise-level security and compliance gates.

The calls that mattered

  • A plugin architecture that let separate teams build their services independently, without stepping on each other or waiting on a central team.
  • Portability as the standing constraint: clean seams, so a proven service could be lifted into myAudi without a rebuild.
  • Keeping cross-team integration honest. Shared contracts and review across app boundaries instead of tribal knowledge, because the teams shipping plugins were not sitting in the same room.

How it ended

The engagement ran two years. Stage was always meant to be the proving ground, not the destination: services that earned their place were built to move on into myAudi.
